March 31, 1997

Dear Confrere:

I am pleased to announce our next Chaine gala, a celebration of German Wines and Foods, at the Grand Concourse. This will be held in conjunction with the Chaine's wine group, L'Ordre Mondial des Gourmets Degustateurs, but all Chaine members and guests are welcome. This very special dinner with a very special guest will be held on Thursday, May 1, 1997 at 7:00 p.m.

Pittsburgh has been honored to be chosen as one of only 4 U.S. cities to be visited by the Director of Education at the German Wine Institute, Helmut Jung. Helmut will be flying in from Mainz, Germany, will be joining us for this gala and has made wonderful German wines available for our enjoyment.

So, The Grand Concourse you say? Well, when it comes to preparing an elegant German feast, this is the place. Maitre de Table Restaurateur Rick McMaster, Executive Chef Bruce Patterson, and Pastry Chef Mark McNulty are planning a spectacular menu of foods and very special German wines.

This will be a black tie event with decorations in order. May I please have your reservations by April 18, 1997. Address them to my attention to avoid any post office confusion. The cost is one hundred ten dollars ($110.00) per person per member couple, and one hundred twenty dollars ($120.00) per guest. Guests will be accommodated on a space available basis.

Also, mark your calendars for June 21st for a future Chaine Gala. If there are any questions, contact me. Otherwise, see you at The Grand Concourse!

Vive la Chaine!
