Greetings Confreres et Consours,

It is with great excitement that we announce our next event(s). That's right, two events on two successive days, Saturday, October 28, 2017 and Sunday, October 29, 2017. We're reviving the Cleveland Bailliage and we need your help to do it!  We have several professional members of the Pittsburgh Bailliage that live in Cleveland and I have asked them to assist in putting them together for us. Here goes...

Our first event is a business casual, "Meet and Greet," on Saturday, October 28, 2017 beginning at 6:30PM. We'll be at the brand new Sirna & Sons facility in Ravenna, Ohio. Join us for an evening of wonderful foods, great wines and fantastic camaraderie as the Pittsburgh Bailliage introduces Clevelanders to the Chaine des Rotisseurs. We're asking that members and guests bring a bottle of their favorite wine to share. I'll start it off by bringing a yummy bottle of 1982 Bordeaux. You'll have to attend to find out which one it is.

Your culinary team for the evening will be, Maitre Rotisseur/Chef John Selick, Senior Culinary Manager for Sodexo with University Hospitals and Maitre Rotisseur/Chef Michael Lyons, owner of Accessible Gourmet and author of "A Cook at Heart." They will handle the culinary duties complete with a Rotisserie! After all, we are the Chaine des Rotisseurs. (Chain of the Rotisserie). We will be in Sirna & Sons kitchens sampling a wide variety of culinary creations as we move from station to station. We'll have plenty of time to ask questions of the chefs and our Chaine members. We'll even have time for some explanations of our favorite wines and why we brought them. This is NOT a formal sit down event.

The following evening, Sunday, October 29, 2017, our host will be Maitre Rotisseur/Executive Chef Scott Ryan, CEC, AAC, with The Country Club in Pepper Pike, Ohio. His list of accomplishments is rivaled only by his skills. He has been awarded Chef of the year from Michigan Chefs de Cuisine Association and later from the Cleveland ACF chapter. He won Northeast Region Chef of the year in 2012 as well as ACF National Chef of the Year, the American Culinary Federations highest award. He was inducted into The American Academy of Chefs the prestigious Honor Society of the American Culinary Federation. In July of 2013 he won the Global Chef’s Challenge semifinals for the right to represent the Americas in Norway in 2014. He placed second in the world finals in Stavanger, Norway, the best that an American chef has ever finished. In February of 2017, he was awarded the DR. L.J Minor Chef Professionalism Award for the Northeast Region of the United States. This talented chef and his culinary team have put together memorable evening!

Founded in 1889, The Country Club’s storied history is unique and important to the development of the game of golf and to the early country club scene in America. Perhaps one of its most significant contributions to the game was member Coburn Haskell’s flash of intuition that resulted in the first rubber-cored, rubber-wound ball. It is said that this ball was first used in an important championship by Walter Travis when he won the British Amateur Championship in 1904. How cool is that? This event will be Black Tie/Cocktail Attire with decorations and guests will be seated.
